This comes after a significant surge in EV sales in 2023, with over 1.5 million units sold, marking a 48% YoY growth. As the EV segment continues to expand, several manufacturers are gearing up to introduce new models to meet the rising demand.

In 2023, over a dozen electric cars were introduced, ranging from entry-level to luxury vehicles. Building on this momentum, manufacturers are now preparing for more launches in 2024. Tata Motors, known for its popular electric PV lineup, has already made a strong start with the Punch SUV.

Maruti Suzuki, though a late entrant into the EV scene in India, is set to unveil its first electric car, the ‘eVX.’ Displayed as a concept at Auto Expo 2023, the eVX is expected to offer two battery options – a 48 kWh unit for base models and a larger 60 kWh unit for top-end variants, potentially providing a range of up to 550 km. The eVX is anticipated to debut late in 2024.
Mahindra XUV e.8

Mahindra XUV e.8:

Building on the success of the XUV700, Mahindra is preparing to launch the XUV e.8, an electric version of the XUV700. Speculated to feature an 80 kWh battery with power outputs of 230 hp and 350 hp, the XUV e.8 may include a twin-motor setup for all-wheel-drive capability. Test mules have been spotted on Indian roads, hinting at an imminent launch.
Tata Harrier EV

Tata Harrier EV:

Unveiled at Auto Expo 2023, the Harrier EV is expected to hit production lines by the second half of 2024. With two battery pack options and the possibility of an all-wheel-drive system, the top-spec variant could boast a range of 500 km on a single charge. There are also speculations about an electrified version of the Safari.

Tata is set to launch the Curvv, an all-new electric SUV, around mid-2024. Expected to offer a range of 400-500 km on a single charge with a larger battery pack, the Curvv might feature a dual-motor setup for all-wheel drive. The model aims to continue Tata’s success in the EV segment.
Mahindra XUV300 EV

Mahindra XUV300 EV:

Mahindra is gearing up to introduce the XUV300 EV to compete with models like the Nexon EV. Positioned as a budget-friendly option, the XUV300 EV is expected to draw inspiration from the upcoming XUV300 facelift. Detailed specifications, including range and electric motor performance, are yet to be revealed.
As India’s EV market continues to evolve, these anticipated launches in 2024 showcase the commitment of manufacturers to provide diverse and technologically advanced electric SUV options to consumers.
